Boulders Beach, Simons Town, South Africa by

Watercolour painted on the spot in 1994. 24 × 26 cm.

Greg paints for the love of being outdoors, and sometimes for other reasons, mostly to record the thrill of a visual experience. He works in all mediums, preferring watercolour for plein air landscape and acrylics for indoor studio work. Painting is not his means of income, but is a hobby, and his source of sanity in an otherwise predominantly left-brained world.

Such delicate work! You have a magical technique with watercolour, and again a great mix of cool and warm here.

Such praise! So pleased you like it. My technique is a bit maverick: I do not adhere to the rules about laying of washes and so on. I slosh paint where it seems to need to go. And if I am in a lovely place, the mood of the place seems to assist me to slosh a little more accurately!

    Gorgeous light in your work..

  • Thank you. If I have managed to capture some of the light that abounds here, to remind the viewer of days when it was good to be alive, then I have succeeded.

    so beautiful

  • Thank you, Tereza. When nature abounds with beauty, the painter is compelled to try to share some of it with other people.
