Pecket No 1163, “Whitehead”, a saddle tank engine built in 1908 at the Atlas works of Pecket and Sons Ltd in Bristol, was delivered new to the Cefnstylle Colliery Co. Gowerran South Wales and named “Cefnstylle”.
The locomotive worked at several collieries and also at the Whitehead Hill and Co Wire and Steel works at Cwmbran. It was here that it acquired its present name.
In 2006 she was stripped down and a complete overhaul was started.
On Friday Mar 11th 2011 Whitehead passed her boiler inspection and was in steam at the Midland Railway Centre during the “Thomas” weekend of 12/13th March.
Below are links to video programs I have produced about the locomotive.
