located south west of Yellowstone in Montana almost at the Idaho border a HUGE earthquake in 1959 made a lake from the river flowing thru the area due to a landslide that killed many campers – the surge from the water took the river front homes submerging them – there was an older woman who was actually saved when her dog pulled her out of the sinking house to safety. If I’m not mistaken I believe it was the Madison River -
Thank you Lori for the feature – The earthquake was a 7.5 – a good size one….been thru many quakes, some bigger than that and don’t want to do any more!
