You are gone
And it breaks my heart
But you are the lucky one
I reach for you then ask myself,
What would your life have been like?
You’d be me, times two:
Absent father, apathetic mother
Desolate, bitter and sad
I’d want so much more for you
Than just another layer
Of inherited misery
No, you are the lucky one
Your spirit is free
You are in the best place you could possibly be
And that is the most precious gift
I could ever give you.

Lisa – this is profoundly moving. We all want to give more, be more, do more and think that somehow we don’t measure up. This kind of loss is incredibly difficult to bear. But, my good friend, you are much too hard on yourself, even in retrospect.

Friends are like that – lol. And they care about who you are, who you’ve become, not who you’ve been. How you got here is important too but it’s where you’re going that makes us want to go along for the ride!
