The Rainbow Lorikeet is a species of Australasian parrot found in Australia, eastern Indonesia (Maluku and Western New Guinea), Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. In Australia, it is common along the eastern seaboard, from Queensland to South Australia and northwest Tasmania. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. Several taxa traditionally listed as subspecies of the Rainbow Lorikeet are increasingly treated as separate species.

Rainbow Lorikeets have been introduced to Perth – Western Australia, Auckland – New Zealand, Amsterdam – The Netherlands and Hong Kong. (care of Wikipedia)

What a beautiful bird! Spectacular colors and clarity of details. This goes immediately into my cherished collection of favorites. Wonderful work. I hope you enjoy my gallery as much as I enjoyed yours. Oh, if you like majestic mountain scenery and horses, you might enjoy my 2009 western/cowboys digital illustration calendar. It’s almost completed. Kindly add me to your watchlist to know when it’s uploaded to RedBubble.

Wow how lucky are you to have such a treasure of animals, possibly except the snakes… LOL
Spectacular birds, QLD is the place for colour!

  • Tell me about it! One night we heard this massive thump and we couldn’t figure out what had happened, we looked out on the verandah and suddenly one of the tree branches was hanging right down on it, there was a massive python weighing down this branch – it had been trying to catch the possums!
