Immaturity by Graham Lea

Immaturity by

This image is about the way immaturity permeates our adult society.

Many anti-social behaviours – vandalism, binge drinking and swearing, to name a few – are habits that begin as teenagers while we’re trying to fit in and be cool. A lot of people discard these habits as the responsibility of adulthood takes hold. Others, however, never grow out of them, and instead continue acting like a child for a large part of their adult life.

This is my second attempt at doing selective colouring (I’m buying a tablet, ASAP) and the first time I’ve asked someone who wasn’t a family member to model for a photo.
(Thanks again, Mark.)

i got a tablet recently and they are pretty fun
    nice concept

  • Thanks Sparrow. I just wanted to end my mouse frustration, but if you say tablets are fun then I’ll be getting one for sure!

I like the color paleness in this photo

  • Thanks, Tim. The graffiti was originally much more saturated, but I wanted the crayon to stand out more so I toned down the graffiti layer.

your model is excellent – his eyes really draw me in. I love the overall tone.

What a wonderful image. I love how striking the face is in front of the background.

  • Thanks, Faizan. I used the Channel Mixer for the first time to make sure I got all the tones and contrast right. I think the model’s piercing look is the real draw card there, though.
