A mixed unit of Florida Volunteers forms a skirmish line to control an oncoming charge from union regulars. The Florida Division of the Army of Tennessee held its 18th Annual, Battle at Narcoossee Mill, March 26th & 27th, 2011 at 4700 Chisholm Park Trail St. Cloud, Florida, USA. Civil war re-enactors from Florida Regiment 3 joined with members of the Ohio 75th Regiment to recreate an authentic battle camp and then do battle in a representation of the many raids on southern farmers and ranchers conducted by northern troops during the war of northern aggression. During these raids the highly organized aggressors were often met by ad hoc units of residents brought together to form a home guard. Southern horsemen were often referred to as the “Cattle Cavalry” due to their members being drawn from the many cowboys working on local ranches.
