Sensational capture! Brings quite a smile and must have been great entertainment to see in person!

  • Thanks DJ, was strange to watch, you have this elusive bird appear from the reeds so watch enthralled then it flew a few yards and produced a slap stick routine, wildlife ats its best, glad you liked it, best wishes Dave

Excellent capture Dave. Funny to see and it made me smile, but I guess the poor birds must have struggled a wee while with all the frozen lakes!

  • It was funny to watch such an elegant and stealthy hunter lose control for a short while and it certainly ruffled his feathers, but they do struggle and consequently during last years long term freeze several bittern actually starved and many others only survived because several reserves decided to put out sprats etc for this threatened species, luckily the thaw has meant a return to normal service but there are unusually high numbers of these still around, suggesting that more cold weather may be on its way, take care my girl, best wishes Dave
