Over snowcapped, mist-enshrouded mountains
I have carried you
You could not have known
In even your loneliest of dreams
The wild and lonely vistas
I have placed before your eyes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Through storm and lightning
I have sheltered you
Above the howling of the winds
I have listened, lest you cried
I have opened pathways long untrodden
With nothing but your spirit at my side
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have faced the bitter winter
On forsaken mountain trails
Yet, less bitter
Than the heart of one
Who strives for love
And fails ……
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And still, I have carried you with me
What else I could do, I do not know
My ever faithful Friend
The one who walks beside me
Until the bitter end
My Shadow.
