The Lace Monitor came winding down the tree trunk in the Shoesmith Reserve Rainforest Park next to the carpark at Manning Point on the shores of the Manning River. Manning Point is also at the mouth of the Manning River and there is a delightful rainforest adjoining the carpark. It is out of the way but worth the trip, as wildlife abounds. It is not far from Taree, New South Wales, Australia. Nikon D40x on auto.

Check out his claws…wouldn’t want to meet him in a dark alley!! Seeing him latched onto this tree upside-down gives some clue about his strength. Love the curves and folds of skin. Great shot! Thanks for adding it to our group Australia! You’re Standing In It….
