Icarus stands on the precipice and looks skyward. He is at the tipping point – the point of no return. I wanted to try to capture that endorphin filled ecstatic moment, that spit second, as the prospect of either soaring or falling to his death becomes a reality and is no longer his choice, he cannot go back now.
This classical tale has many layers of meaning. Hopefully, this representation adds another.

While creating this work, one piece of music haunted me – Past the Point of No Return from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. Many of the lyrics seemed to capture the mood I wanted to portray.
Thank you!
