Is romance and beauty dead?
This work explores the death of the Arcadian idyll, much favoured during the 19th century by the Pre-Raphaelites, Neo-Classicists and Romantics. And, perhaps, comments on the notion of the death of romance and beauty, at least in the form that it was embraced in the 19th century.
We live in an age where “beauty” has become a saleable commodity – bought and sold on supermarket shelves. But is there any “truth” in this incarnation of beauty ….. and what of romance ….. and has it always been this way?
The principal figure, a photorealistic centaur, addresses the viewer. He is real, yet he is a figment, a myth, an illusion. Is this the reality of beauty?

Thank you! I tried to capture that eerie time of day when everything glows and colours seem more saturated. Glad you like it!
