Nearly every autumn the Crabapple trees in the back garden produce a large crop of these almost inedible apple, but these two clung on through all the gales of winter, until they were shrivelling and spring had begun.
However last year, whether because of spring storms destroying the blossom or because I haven’t seen a honey bee in almost two years the Crabapple trees barely managed two apple together. I’m not sure whether this is sad or ominous, but I’ll be watching closely this spring.
