Basic Resizing Tutorial
This is a very basic resizing tutorial for those wanting to enlarge work for print. Enlarging should be done PRIOR TO any other processing of your image.
This contains no gaussian blur layers, no processing tips – just how to resize your images, with very simple and non-technical information.
It does explain (in the simplest terms) the differences between file sizes and image size, and how to change the resolution.
Those already using a method to enlarge their photos won’t get much out of this, but those just learning might find it helpful
The tutorial is in a downloadable .pdf format and includes screenshots with the instructions, to make it even easier to follow.

excellent tutorial, I resize all the time but this explains the process really well and hopefully will help me do the job better.

IT’S GREAT…for photoshop users. The rest of us need some good basic rules of thumb that will get us through this minus Photoshop. Does no one else ever use Irfanview, GIMP, etc?

May I suggest another way of increasing the size to enable you to make, say, an A3 print without pixellation. Again it is using Photoshop’s Image Size dialog and increasing it by 110% repeatedly until you get the pixel count that you want. I have made an action for this because it really works and I have never seen an explanation as to why this should be! Some of my photos have been too small to get a card, or laminated print, but a few clicks and bingo!! Peter
