NB: the little black bit on the bottom is to keep his head from going off the card and his feet on it – it doesn’t show up on the card.

This was from one my dad’s old black and whites (circa 1957). The photo is in bad shape (possibly restorable if scanned professionally) – I originally uploaded just a hand-coloured version, but didn’t really like it.

In the end I took it completely through the digital painting process. After some hours and many layers, this is the result.
