Green Acres

Green Acres by Gracey

Green Acres

The images were taken by my father (© was passed on to me via inheritance when he passed away 5 years ago); the child is me…at about aged 2 yrs. 5 mos.; the farm belonged to my uncle (also passed away about 10 years ago).

While these are “happy snaps” they are also my history. In a time when we had almost nothing in terms of money or possessions, my parents made a happy life for us, and my dad used a lot of second hand photography equipment (often given to him when others didn’t want it anymore) to take many of these shots.

Some pieces were professional cameras (my favourite was an old mamiya), but mostly they were just a way for him to record those happy times. I’m remarkably proud of some the images my dad accomplished. Sadly, I didn’t realize how much I thought of his work until he was gone, and never really took the opportunity to thank him for teaching me, or for passing on his love of photography to me.

Well, I’d have to thank my dad for the capture – it’s one of his. The oldie…that’s me in the pic (sure hate to admit that my baby pics are now considered “vintage photos”) :D
