REFLECTIONS ON PHOTOGRAPHY by gracestout2007

Posted on June 10, 2009

We have pleasure in interviewing Grace Stout and her colourful and interesting portfolio can be seen here

1. WHAT DREW YOU TO PHOTOGRAPHY?

ART & MEMORIES.
When I was in elementary school, my father had a dark room in the backyard of our house and I used to assist him in developing black & white pictures. If he was not around, I would go inside his dark room and develop pictures with various designs that I liked.
I love art and I love to create. And for me, photographs are the artistic
expression of the creative mind. Taking photos allows me to capture some sort of beauty and keep it for a lifetime.

2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SUBJECT TO TAKE PHOTOS OF?

Building reflections

3. WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE?

Fuji Film Fine Pix S700

4. WHAT EDITING PROGRAMME DO YOU USE?

Photo Explosion De Luxe

5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE IMAGE IN YOUR OWN PORTFOLIO & WHY?

My photo “Flags of America” because I love American flags. Also this was my first work featured in the Red Bubble.
I was very happy to see my work in the featured images of the American Patriot Group.

6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE IMAGE OF YOUR OWN IN THE REFLECTIONS IN BUILDING WINDOWS GROUP & WHY?

My photo “INSIDE” because this was my second image featured in Reflections in the Building Windows Group and it was also my my husband’s choice.

7. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THREE IMAGES OF OTHER PEOPLE’S WORK IN THE REFLECTIONS IN BUILDING WINDOWS GROUP & WHY?

First is Kalaryder’s “Light & Reflection (2)” because this is an eye catching subject. I really liked the composition in this shot and this perspective is very impressive to me.

Second is Jan Stead’s “past reflections” as it looks very mysterious to me.

Third is tdako’s “Cloud Reflections” – I am fascinated with the formation of the clouds.

8. WHERE WOULD BE YOUR DREAM PLACE FOR A PHOTO SHOOT?

I will choose PARIS because it has so many beautiful parks and iconic buildings like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre Museum, etc. Also, when my husband and I went there last 2004, I wasn’t able to take a lot of good shots as my camera could only take 30-40 photos.

9. ABOUT MYSELF:

I am an Asian female living in Los Angeles and I am married to a white man who disliked photography when I first met him. Now, he is my number one critic and loves what I like to do. He is very supportive of my passion for photography. When I am shooting, I always pay attention to my thoughts and emotions. I always start first with my heart then with my camera.

I would like to give thanks to my Father for giving me tools in LIFE. I owe him my skills. I also would like to thanks to my husband for liking what i LOVE TO DO!

Thanks also Kala and Skyhorse for all your RedBubble support,
GRACE STOUT
