Aguas de Vida…“waters of life”
Taken at Puerto Varador, 13km from Trinidad, the capital of the Beni region of Bolivia.
The summer rains fill the river once again, bringing life back to Puerto Varador.
I was there just a few weeks ago and, before the rains started, you could drive across the dry riverbed in the car. There was nobody about either apart from some cowboys getting well and truly blootered at the local bar.
Now the river is full of water and full of life. As I arrived at the banks this evening, boats and canoes were busy ferrying people and goods back and forth, cumbia music was being played loudly, house boats buzzed with activity and hoards of children played in the water.
To take the photo I went down one of the tracks which allow cars and trucks to be transported across by pontones (river boats) such as in the image.

Such a beautiful sky, superbly tonemapped Kenny.
Thanks Amy. Yes, the sky was beautiful once again – we do have some lovely sunsets in this part of the world :)

A really stunning image and such wonderful light.
Many thanks Christine. It really was a beautiful evening, even with the mosquitoes who have become my “companions” on recent outings with the camera.

Wonderful warm, tones, and detail Kenny. A big congratulations on your well deserved feature in Quality Layered Work + HDR Group. A stunner for sure. Kathy :)
Many thanks Kathy. It was a beautiful evening. I’ve never seen this little place so alive with activity and the beautiful sunset just topped it all off. I had to take this photo pretty quickly as there was an elderly gentleman who was quite determined to get water to wash with and to get this water in the area right in front of the camera :)
Many thanks for your encouragement and congratulations on the super job being done with this group.
