Oil on paper. It’s very spooky that this friend reunited with me through Facebook after 4 years of disappearing, just as I was putting this picture up on the internet. Anyway, the painting’s colour scheme of yellow ochres and pinks is very cheerfull and relaxing, and in this painting I discovered some new colour combinations I hadn’t used before. On top of it comes the baby blue of the blue-silver wig my friend is wearing for Halloween. Although my brushstrokes are usually a bit harsh, in this painting the fleshtones appear subtle and more natural than in portraits I had done before this one. I have to give credit to Kelly for posing so well in this picture, she was very comfortable with the camera and it worked out perfect!
