Once Upon A Time

A union was made, some deeds rearranged
Water was sought, lumber was brought
Children were born,wages were earned
The earth it was turned, gardens were grown
Mouths to be fed, stories were read
Warm starlit nights, the skies all ablaze
Log on the stove, snow all around
The road ain’t been plowed how far down?
Birds would sing, right over there
Every year, same old pair
The stove was fired, baths were drawn
Brother and sister, up right at dawn
Off to school, down a dirt road
The kids moved on and the couple grew old
So here I stand looking for stories they told
Some are sad but most are grand
So I look in your window hoping to find
Some of that love that made it so fine………

Abandoned farm house, somewhere on CRT 26 in Central NY…………..

I love ‘hoping to find some of that love that made it so fine…’ It causes me to feel better about what is left behind in places like this. Lives … Great work x

I love the findings you have found, Glenn. Really intriguing and my mind does go to what was once there or could have been there. Though a little sad too.
    great work. ;-)
