Cool, Thank you for the invite. I have about half a dozen tattoo shots of these guys from Tokyo :o)
Tama Blough
That’s a really nice tat – sometimes those are so elaborate you can hardly tell what’s going on.
gottheshot replied
Hi Tama, I totally agree some people have tats that just merge into a BLOB and lose the art. I really like this one and another of a dragon that I photographed.

Thats a quality piece of inking- Nice shot Paul x
gottheshot replied
Cheers Anita, Yes, they were some of the clearest and most detailed tattoos I had ever seen and in the sunshine they were like paintings.
Karin Taylor
oooh this is such a beautiful tattoo, he has lovely skin too to show it off, no wonder he’s not wearing any shirt P!! :) Gorgeous clear candid image!
gottheshot replied
Hi Karin, Thank you very much for your sweet comment.
Yes he was a character for ‘shirt off’ and posing and dancing.
This is actually as new a shot to me as it is to you – cos I ‘found’ this shot as I was looking through my photos just yesterday.

woah!! this is gorgeous!! great capture! :)
gottheshot replied
Thank you very much,
I was concentrating so much on the tattoo and getting his elbows in frame that I hadnt realised that I had captured a nice face profile too. Photography is partly luck – if the photographer is honest. :o)
salsbells69
ooo..Yakuza by any chance Paul? Great shot and detailed tatt!
gottheshot replied
Hi salsbells69,
Thank you.
‘Fraid these guys aint as scary as yakuza :o)
These guys are Tokyo Rockabilly Club who meet every Sunday.
A couple of them have large back tattoos. A yakuza tatt is – as I have come to find out – called a ‘suit’. This is where the full back is tattooed – no spaces – normally a subject from Japanese theatre or other subjects and then the tattoo with no skin to be seen – travels down each arm to the wrists – also on the legs covering all skin down to their ankles.

I was having a 3 strikes and you’re out kinda day – oh I see its gone into the next day so I am free from the ‘Friday curse’.
I see on youtube that this guy has since dyed his hair blond :o(
Cheers Dogfish, one of my best shots of the Harajuku guys. I maybe have a few more tattoo shots of these guys I will keep sifting through my Japan files :o) thanks again, GTS.
dogfish

gottheshot replied

Hi Scott, This is def in my top five photos of ones taken in Harajuku – to capture the split second of this guy not moving outta frame and trying to close in on his elbows as much as poss.
Thank you for such an encouraging comment.
