Shelter in the form of a Classical Temple
Lying in secluded privacy in its own valley, Stourhead is one of the finest landscape gardens in the world. Designed by Henry Hoare II, the garden was laid out between 1741 and 1780. Lakeside paths lead past classical temples and follies, set against a backdrop of beautiful and exotic trees, revealing many vistas that have captured the imagination of visitors for more than two centuries. Sitting majestically above the garden, and surrounded by delightful lawns and parkland, is Stourhead House.
