    The name of this is just too inaccurate to leave as is. Belly dancers and full blown hejab’s belong to Arab and Islamic culture. The times of Persepolis predate the Islamic invasion of Persia (actually, Islam didn’t even exist yet), so this painting, while pretty, would be much better off being titled “Arabia”. Leaving it as is would literally be like taking a picture of the Colosseum and titling it “Athens”.

  • The title comes from the location, not the era. My reference photo was taken there. I think one could more correctly liken it to a picture of christians at the Acropolis and entitling it “Acropolis”.

    Having the title reference the location still wouldn’t make sense because the belly dancer attire and hejab aren’t part of Persepolis or the culture it represents. Persepolis represents an ancient era, it’s a historical landmark that represents a pre-Islamic Iran. I know, I am being picky about this.
