Common sense, nous ie the ability to exercise universally held truths that is there for all to apply is something most people recognise instantly and the Health and Safety guy tries to repalce with triple decker procedures designed to complicate life and not to make it easy.
Common sense is not putting your hand in the fire or playing chicken with a 40 tonnes truck or arguiing with an airport official. It’s the unwritten rules of getting through life without too much aggravation, paim and humiliation.
I saw a definition of common sense on the back of a coffee bar chair the other day; a definition i have neverdheard (or read ) before. It said.
“Common sense is the acquisition of prejudices you’ve had since you were eighteen”
