I dreamt a dream, most every night
Of a magical land of fun and delight
A land where faerie creatures abound
And with their antics, the dreamer astound
But all is not right here, ’tis not as it seems
Not all Faerie creatures are nice in my dreams
Some hunt and some steal and are ready to fight
The nice ones avoid them, and when seen they take flight
At the heart of the land is a bright little pond
Surrounded by tree, by rock and by frond
All may come here to slack thirst and to cool
For this is the place that is called FAERIES POOL
A place of tranquillity where all may abide
A place where friend and foe sit side by side
No troubles are brought here, for that is the Rule
The one and only rule of this place, Faeries pool
Now strange it does seem in this magical land
To find creatures from my realm appear out of hand
These creatures are horses, of an Irish breed
Descendants from a mighty, mystical steed
They play and they frolic, and at will they roam
A drink it is needed, being so far from home
They seem to see nothing as they approach the pool
To slacken their thirst and their feet to cool
The trolls and the goblins, the trows and the imps
They shout and they holler, and some seem gone limp
These horses don’t belong here, and they look at them sly
For in their minds to these the Rule does not apply
They plot and they plan, the horses to capture
To all else oblivious, they appear as if in rapture
The horses they stir, but they know not why
And to run from the danger they do not try
Now the Fairy Princess arises all aquiver
And with her steely eyed stare causes all to stop a shiver
For she has the lead here, and the rule to enforce
And enforce it she will, as a matter of course
True it may be, these are no longer of us
Though their far sire was, and to his honour they pass
But deep inside her she knows troubles brew
Her mind works so frantic in search of a clue
She then looks straight at me, for she sensed I was there
Take them back to your realm, take them with care
The trolls and the goblins would bash and would burn
So take them with haste now and never return
It was then I awoke, alone and quite shaken
Still feeling the loss of the land now forsaken
So now in the real world I search and I look
I search along raging river and bubbling brook
I search for horses put into my trust
I roam and I look, for find them I must
To the princesses command I must comply
Compelled by the dream till the day I die
On day I will find them by that bright little pond
Surrounded by tree, by rock and by frond
That one special place so peaceful and cool
The waking world twin of that place, FAERIES POOL
