This Old Cannon...........

This old cannon came to Russell, NZ, as ballast in the ship “Sourabaya”. The ship was found to be unseaworthy and was broken up. The cannon, with two others, was set up on Tapper’s Mount at the north end of Russell Beach to defend the town before Heke’s last attack. It was placed on its present site in 1917, when it was last fired…..
