Posted on April 26, 2007

A talk I’m giving in Brisbane is being billed as a public lecture.
Lecture: Monday 30th April, 5pm to 6pm
Place: Room Z2 232, Creative Industries Precinct, Kelvin Grove Campus, Queensland University of Technology, www.ciprecinct.qut.com/spaces/. I think Z2 is “The Terrace”.

So, all are welcome! I’ll be talking about some of my work in generative art.

Generative art is where I write a computer program and the computer program generates some or all of the artwork. Actually it needn’t be a computer, it can be any sort of system that has some degree of autonomy, and generates something that someone thinks is art! The term seems to be used pretty flexibly. I guess for most people who do this, though, there is a computer in there somewhere. Is that helpful?

There will be some students from QUT’s new Computational Arts program coming along – I hope to find out what they are doing in this area.
