I like short stories
Writers like Ray Carver in particular who blend the day to day flotsam of
life with intricately simple stories. The sort of stories, characters and
situations that stay with you for a long time. I like Cormac McCarthy and Australian authors
like Robert Drewe, Elliot Perlman, Nam Le, Paddy O’Rielly, Margo Lanagan, Gerald Murnane, Frank Moorhouse, to name a few favourites, who also produce
wonderfully stylish and poignant work.

I like prose and poetry
I like to write expressions of ideas and thoughts and emotions that are
sometimes based around a character’s observations or experiences. Words
that try to distil the essence of a situation without clutter and cloying
detail. I like to support publications like “Meanjin”:http://meanjin.com.au
and others of its ilk.

I like music
Music that is contemporary and exciting and innovative. Anything really,
from the super cool Nordic jazz of Tord Gustavsen to the alt country-folk
of Jordie Lane, Jen Cloher and Nathan Hollywood to the alternative rock of
The Bad Seeds, The Holy Sea, Polly Harvey, Catpower and Kid Sam to the trip-hop of Portishead, Lamb and Zero 7… and lots in between.

I like the ocean
Actually i love the ocean and spend most of my time in or on it. I love its
multifaceted character and respect its moods and emotions. It is an
omnipotent presence that has no time for human foibles and its power and
magnitude is at once both daunting and inspirational.

I like redbubble
It is a rare treat to be able to read and view so much of all your amazing
work.
