My morning train.

There he is, where I always know he will be. He stands slightly tilted against the second door to the fourth carriage. With his red tartan scarf keeping the skin around his neck warm. Holding on tight to his soft leather briefcase. He stands. Nothing has changed.

She sits on whatever vacant seat she can find. With her hands laying pleasantly on her lap. As she rests her eyes and doses off. She manages to stay upright, never snores. She stays quite still during the whole trip. She sleeps. Nothing as changed.

The couple manage to find two seats together. She rests her head on his shoulder and sleeps. He stays alert to wake her for her departure. His willingness to guard her is admirable. He protects. Nothing has changed.

She sits so poised, always correcting her students work. Her dark complexion radiates beauty. One leg crosses the other. She holds her pen gracefully. She sits. Nothing has changed.

The three chubby women chatter away. Selfishly sitting in the disabled seats. They mingle and laugh and share their exhilarating stories. All while every sane person thinks ‘its too early for that’. They chatter. Nothing has changed.

He paces up and down the carriage. Twitching. Staring into nothing. People point and stare. He does not notice. He continues to pace. Up and down up and down. Twitching. Nothing has changed.

Nothing has changed.

Nothing has changed.

i honestly rocked with the monotonous motion of your slice of life… like i was on the tube or metro, entrenched in the daily grind. but there’s a peacefulness here, the line between whether the routine is loved or loathed is blurred and i really enjoy the question.
