Sandra has been working with watercolours since she was very little, and today it remains a favourite medium, often combined with pen and ink. Watercolours bring a sense of immediacey, light, colour, flow, and surpise that delights her. The expressive line, definition, and confidence she finds in pen drawing makes for an enchanting combination to explore.
As she has a love for travel and being in nature, some sketches capture this communion with the landscape. (such as with the galiano island series) Other inspirations are letting a painting be revealed by playing with shapes and colour (such as Bright Moon Dancing, and Soundflower) or working with a theme and stylized figures in a whimsical illustrative style.
