Central Qld Contemporary Artists exhibition by goanna

Posted on November 01, 2008

The art group I belong to is having a one week exhibition at Gallery 6 Walter Reid Cultural Centre Derby St Rockhampton.
It started on Thursday night.
Lots of people came and ate the food and drank the wine and went home happy.
No sales as yet – is it the economy kicking in or just this is not an art buyer’s town?

Am thinking next time instead of a fanciful exhibition theme the theme should be
“We take cash” or “Entry free, $2 to leave”.
haha sorry, starving artist humour.
Luckily I have a day job…

So art is rocking in Rocky or should that read …on the rocks in Rocky? My dear old auntie made a great living flogging fish ’n chips…Right opposite the pictures…Has to be a moral in that somewhere.:-))))))))))))

He He- We had a cheese n wine opening night for a village hall exhibition last night- It was packed out and people eat and drank the refreshments us poor artists paid for- but we only sold 2 unframed and 1 framed work all evening- gosh reading your story, we should feel lucky that we did that- I think people are just weird (I wouldn’t go to something like that unless I intended to purchase)- Might as well stick FREE BOOZE on the door coz thats basically what it is xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope you sell a few during the show btw xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
