The image is linked back to yours on redbubble, which at least is something positive. Thing is, it seems that everyone blogging these days seem to think that all images are free, no matter who took them….

Very true Mel and very unfortunate. I suspect tumblr will remove the link and image as soon as they are contacted.

I sent them a general email telling them to go through every image on their site to verify that it isn’t there as a breech of copyright. I don’t think that they can hide behind members as they are the company posting the image and it is their responsibility to ensure that there is no copyright infringement. You sue them not their members. Bet they won’t do anything though but they HAVE to remove your image.

And yes, I’m a member of tumblr and tried to do something similar to see what the process would be, and the person who owns that blog will have needed to do a screen save and then save the resulting image, and then upload it, as well as physically link it back to you….so they’ve gone to quite a bit of trouble….

Got a response from tumbr requesting the web page. I think they see that they have a serious problem. I sent them your link Variana. Best is if you contact them asap. The person’s name at Tumblr is Tess.

It’s dead easy to get around 1px mask. As Mel says you just do a screen save and then crop the screen image. One good thing though is that the resolution of the copy is pretty low.

How did you find the one on the caving website? How are you checking for illegal use of your images?

Not good that. I think sticking a copyright notice on each image isn’t a bad idea.

Write to tumblr and demand action.

Have you ever used Tineye? allows you to check your images against the web and list other potential places that it might be of been used against your wishes

is a recognised reverse search engine, see what you think

It isn’t stolen. If you click the picture it LINKS back to REDBUBBLE, but trust me it isn’t worth IT. I shan’t ever use a RedBubble pic again.

You guys have clearly spent a lot of time on this…. but failed to click the image. CLICK IT. No saving was REQUIRED… it links back…. TO YOUR PAGE ON REDBUBBLE. Some people like the publicity that comes from having their page linked on Tumblr. There is no need to get upset. I deleted the picture the moment I was asked.

I have had mine used, but the only thing attached was my title for the image and Redbubble’s number they assign. No way to know where it came from. I was doing a search on my titles and they came up on a private Evangelist’s blog site. Also a note to MusinglyMia: Why don’t you just ASK THE OWNER?

Mia obviously just doesn’t get it.
She thinks its ok to use the images however she wants, and putting as link back to redbubble made it OK?!!
And now she seems to be acting like the agrieved victim.
Well she appears to be gone from redbubble now, she can take her victim status elsewhere.

Here Here Garth. The real problem is that the author of an image isn’t asked and using it in any way without asking is a breech of copyright. I came a cross a few of my images on other websites but they credited where the image came from which is OK with me as it adds exposure but again is an illegal activity.
