Death of the farm

The Sidoarjo mud flow or Lapindo mud, is a mud volcano in the subdistrict of Porong, Sidoarjo in East Java, Indonesia that has been ongoing since May 2006 as an alleged result of poor drilling practice. As of October 30, 2008, the mud flow is still ongoing at a rate of 100,000 m3 per day. It is expected that the flow will continue for the next 30 years. As of November 2008, the Sidoarjo mud flow is contained by levees, but further breakouts are possible.

This shot taken between the primary and secondary levees.

Wow, amazing what havoc man can create when he tries to change his world. Good job in BW really adds to the severity of what’s happening.

Thanks Ericseyes… it is an incredible disaster in a place where the rest of the planet know little about.

Looks like B&W but that’s how it is.. it’s a colour shot and I’ve done nothing but crop it..

Beautiful yet sad. The havoc we humans wreak will be left for generations. Some people are just so short sighted and only see the profits they can reap, not the mess they will leave behind. Great capture.

Thanks Bryan… It is indeed sad and what becomes of the people is nothing short of a disgrace.
