Taken on a great day out with a friend, experimenting with sorter exposures to show water movement rather than my usual style.Looking out to the North Sea, from Seaham, Tyne & Wear. Taken using my usual Canon 5D with a 10 sec exposure at f4.

Glenn, this is moody and fabulous. An instant fave.
Elana, thank you very much!
Glenn- for me this is one of your best to date in this new series. Has a surreal, dream-like quality to it. The ‘faster’ shutter speed adds that wonderful detail to the gently moving tide. Love the sky. Great detail in the foreground- Peter.
Peter, its strange but the quicker exposure seems to add that dreamy quality, having said that I took around ten exposures of this view to get the one i wanted! Looks like I need to pull my finger out and try and print it for Friday! thanks again mate.
Soldiers standing firm. Awesome work Glenn and exposure..
Luis, always a pleasure to receive feedback from yourself! thank you.
Leonie, thank you for taking the time to comment. Glad you found something in the image!
You’ll be going for 1/2000th of a second, droplet-freezing shots next Glenn! ;) Still, love this one, I sometimes feel that these shorter exposures give a little more hint of movement and seem a bit more dynamic as a result.
Steve, don’t tempt me! but I think you may well have a point about the shorter exposure adding something to the image that my usual exposures may not have been able to convey?Thank you for the compliment!
looking good Glenn, the over lapping wave action is excellent creating beautiful curves, really gives a sence of time and movement. Lovely comp as well using the rock and 4 posts. The sky looks after itself, but for me it’s all about the foreground area. – Excellent
Dave, this is the one I was spending all of my time trying to get last week. Think I took ten exposures of this image and have been looking at it to see if it held up. I am in agreement that the foreground is the ‘interest’ and not even my heavy sky’s draw the attention away?
Stunning work Glenn…very minimalistic…great shot mate.
Jonathan, thank you kindly! I like to think of its simplicity…. just like myself!!!!
it’s beautiful symmetric work and great title
Thank you kind sir!
Cracking work Glenn, love the overlapping trasparency in the waves & the head on composition of the posts…the printing as ever will add to the overall quality.
Thanks Ian, initially I was not sure about this one. I like the composition but thought the sky may distract from the interesting part of the foreground? think I have come around to it now!
if this prints as good as it is on my screen it will be beautiful.
as we stand and stare we look for things that may not be there but we stand and don’t leave our post the dangers maybe from within or from distant shores but we stand and don’t leave our post from the sky from the sea come the ghostsbut we stand and don’t leave our post
