Peaceful Pier
Let’s stay awake and listen to the dark.
Before the birds, before they all wake up.
It’s the ending of a play and soon begins another.
Hear the leaves applaud the wind.
See the sun come rising and white-wings start to fly.
Like strings of pearls in the firey sky.
I don’t want to close my eyes, don’t want to leave the stage now,
As the leaves applaud our stay.
Lend me yours wings and teach me how to fly.
Show me when it rains, the place you go to hide.
And the curtains draw again and bow – another day ends.
The leaves applaud the wind. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——

At first I didn’t like the manmade pier, but when I had a look at it large the beauty of the half round shapes catching the light really started working on me, along with the wonderful sky & sea tones. ( personally I might have liked the pier coming write across to the middle or even a bit past ) – Only the top of the tower breaking the horizon is excellent and very strong – Great Vision Glenn
GlennC replied
Dave I am glad you like it. For me the radius of the pier points to the light on the horizon (real not PS) is the key . I played around with the positioning of the structure and tried it supporting the horizon but in the end preferred this….

I see complexity in this one…the hard industrial strength of the pier set against the softness of the water but in reality its the water that can be so strong and destructive. I like it a lot.
GlennC replied
Thanks Ian, in some ways it reminds me of some of your later work with local piers, but without your fantastic sky’s!

I agree with both the comments of Dave and Ian and yes it’s a great image however after looking for a while the flat sea started to bother me a little I started looking for some kind of life in there, we are so used to seeing this soft milky flatness, here I think I would be nice to have a stormy sea with crashing waves to show the strength of the industrial engineering how a man made structure can for a while stand up to the elements.
but I still think it’s top notch
GlennC replied
Thanks Dad,I can see your point, but, prefer to look at the calmness as a metaphor of how man’s engineering/imagination has helped to make difficult situations just that little bit easier?
