Reflections of Hallet Peak and pine trees, many diseased with pine beetle. Sure, everyone shoots this scene, but not before 7am.

Stunning Gary…Looks beautiful with those reflection! You are truley a talented nature photographer! Great job! ~K
Fabulous reflection, and those afflicted trees really stand out amongst the blue and green.
Thank you. I got up at 3:30 this morning, drove up to Bear Lake, and hiked rather rapidly to Emerald Lake. It was windy there and I knew I wouldn’t get the reflection I wanted so I ran back down to Dream Lake. Just a bit breezy there but shot away anyway. Nothing came out as good as a previous image so I didn’t post any. But coming back down to Nymph I saw this reflection, and bingo! Time for a nap :-)
Wow… What a beautiful shot! Worth the all the hard work!!
The fall colors and the reflections are truly beautiful!
Glorious fall colors and reflections!
Thanks, but unfortunately the red color is not from autumn, but from pine beetle kill. Sure helps the image, though.
The devastating effects of the notorious Pine Beetle is a tragedy. I saw the effects in the southern areas of Chugach and near Seward Alaska as well. This is a beautiful image Gary and I very much enjoyed reading your wonderful story.
Thank you Sharon. I hope the effects are less this year, especially with the efforts of the forest service as well as the cold snap this winter.
