Perhaps someone could give me an idea on how to avoid the sun flare when i’m taking photos like this ,,,,, maybe a lens hood ????

A UV filter should be able to do that. Or possibly a lens hood.
The sun flare is kinda a neat feature to this picture I think.
Seeing the rays of light is a cool effect.

A hood can help, or putting your hand up to block the sun, but that can be tricky when trying to stay upright in the surf, I’d guess!! I don’t mind the flare here!
