On a classic fall day in Colorado, not even the cool heavy rains from an afternoon thunderstorm can extinguish the blaze of color found in this landscape near Owl Creek Pass.

Wonderful capture, Eric! It’s such a beautiful area. Was this near Silver Jack reservoir?
Thanks so much, Eivor. Yes, this spot is just south of the Silver Jack area, but north of the east, middle, and west Cimarron fork road turnoffs and of course Owl Creek Pass itself. There’s actually an overlook at this spot where you can park your car and just look out at this view. That’s Pinnacle Ridge in the distance (in the rain), with no named peaks that I can find. Beyond it, looking south, is the incredible Uncompahgre Wilderness Area, which I’m just getting to know and explore. Like you say, what an area! I imagine it would be very beautiful in late May/early June as well with the leafing of the aspens. Thanks for your comment, Eivor!
