I am looking for the fat boards now..Be there soon!..lol Beautiful Rocky mountain scene!Good job on the light on the snow..D.
  • Thanks so much for stopping (and the fave), Dennis. It’s about a mile-and-a-half snowshoe/ski in from the trailhead to this point, but after a dump of two feet the night before, on top of the 10-20 feet already there, it made for a tough journey. But oh, is it beautiful!

Wow, this is beautiful! Love the textures! I’m hoping to get some mountain snow shots this winter, but the best I’ll be able to do is the Adirondacks.. I’m stuck in the east!

  • Kevin, thanks for the kind words. Having been born and raised on Long Island, I’m a New Yorker too! You mention the Adirondacks—I love those mountains. You see, many years ago my dad used to take our family camping up there. Our favorite place? Paradox Lake. Tent platform 4B. Some of the best times of my life. It’s been forty years since I’ve been back up there, but I’m finally going to return for a spell this summer. Yes, Colorado can be spectacular. But I’d give anything to spend a week with my camera in upstate New York. So I envy you. By the way, your photos are lovely. Keep up the good work. Thanks, and take care!

Great capture!!! Probably took you a while to get here, with all the snow. Congratulations on your feature.

  • Hi David, thanks so much! Yes, when you can stay on the trail – it actualy used to be a road used by miners a hundred years ago – you don’t sink down too far. But at that altitude, the snow is so soft and powdery and deep that if you go off-trail, as I like to do, you’ll sink down 2-3 feet with each step. It’s just amazing. The snow is so beautiful, but oh is it exhausting!

Sounds like a pretty tough hike, but so worth it! Beautiful!

  • Hi Eivor, thank you! Yes, I’ve been up there many times. Tons of snow, VERY cold, but it’s a special place. The photo does not do it justice. Thanks for your comment!
