To Baby

Babies grow so very quickly. My son is no exception! It seems that he was just being handed to me like a little baby burrito, all red and squinty! Now I am planning his first birthday party…albeit 3 months in advance…but still!! This poem is for him of course. Though he grows fast, I have no regrets, because I truly savor our time together and that’s all you can do!

To Baby belongs to the following groups:

As Is, Childhood, Cutest of the Cute, Everyday Life, Live, Love, Dream: , Two Beings Group and WMG

I did not know that I would call you Munchie…
Peanut Butter
Pumpkin Eater
Puff-a-lump
Or that I would dance with you, everyday
Smelling your head like a bed of memories and what’s-to-be’s
I can’t explain the adoration I feel as you lie asleep
And make that tiny peep
Like some sort of storybook sound
And oh, the different way my heart pounds!
My bundle of art, poetry, soft peachy perfection
There’s no way to convey how just an ordinary day
Wells up inside, like a carnival ride
Those big belly worries that were aflame
All doused and turned to butterflies since you came
Tickling hugs, sloppy kisses, rockabyes
Oh how I’ll miss this!
Memories float, to a sunlit haze
Etched in my soul, sweet baby days

Just beautiful and full of love! Love the last line!! There is no greater feeling than the feeling you get from being with your little miracle, watching them grow and explore.

This is sooo incredibly sweet and brought tears to my eyes… I can’t wait to be a mom!!! I hope you keep this poem forever and let your child read it when he/she’s all grown up. As far as poetic form and impact…. perfection!!! Beautiful work :)
