Escaping Senses

The forest trees felt like my Father
Leading me away from pain
But for the breakage of my heart
I felt it more than just the same

I heard dried leaves upon the ground
And turned to see you walking away
It was such an incredulous, cold dark sound
I bore an owing – like stricken pay

I quickly hid behind the stem
I felt it was not hiding me
For certain you would hear my heart
The breeze moving my dress, you’d see

Your hands slid down into your pockets
The poignant way that giving up does
It killed me a bit, I could not have it
For you – for me- for us – because

I ran to you like death was turning
Arching my back when you spotted me fast
I thought you’d smile and come draw near me
But why are you here? was all you asked

What do you mean? Trembled off my tongue
I felt my heart drop, dragging low
You need to remember You uttered gently
And faded away without saying so

I awoke in a throbbing and tore the letter
Stuck upon my hand – our end
Bowing my head in soft remembrance
Of dreams that speak and one to mend

Trying to move in a fog of always
You linger inside this leftover time
A saga, an era, an ever after
Oh love, leave me! Without a sign
