This is a helicopter that was doing arial tree trimming in between the power lines next to my place in Amherst, Virginia, USA. This shot was when he was on his way down to trim branches. There is just 20 feet on either side of the power line. This was so close! I don’t know how they manage to do the trimming and shoot back up and then back down in there again. You can see the pilot looking out of the helicopter to see how close he was. I wish it were a sunnier day and he was more visible. :)) It was a little scary to see him that close knowing he had a huge blade attatched to the helicopter and it was cutting branches! The power was going on and off the whole time he was out there. I was pretty amazed by the whole thing. Taken with my Canon Powershot SX110 IS

actually now that I see the chopper I lied – My son doesn’t trim or top the trees……they are thinning the forest and taking out the dead wood. The choppers are HUGE! lol

  • I guess the Choppers would have to be huge to carry that huge blade! :0 It was so close! The guys on the ground have a hard job. And they are out in all sorts of weather.
    Thanks Loree!
