Beautiful work and a proper reminder Ginny, here in North Carolina we get our share and probably someone’s elses share of hurricanes each season. I do relate.

  • thanks Jim, this year more devastation, coastal cities flooded , thousands of people homeless. it’s been about 4 years of destruction. Makes for good rainforests though. We are further South so only get the tail end, Yasi was about half the size of the USA so it covered a vast area, this is a part of the rainforest, stripped bare still not recovered. …Inland and south ,devastatingly bushfires! I meant to do quite a few of these last year after a trip, but haven’t been able to do much…

    Wonderful. Love the colors

  • Gosh thanks Walela. Usually it’s tropical colourful … although tropical really means heavy cloud and torrential rain! Then the sun comes out and it’s all steamy , whew.

a lovely soft pastel work Ginny….lots of movement in this one..

  • Thanks LInda .Still showing a lot of signs of destruction up there. Lots of road works so it’s hard to stop and get out, I had to take pics as were still driving. There’s a Motel called Yasi too now, at Hinchinbrook I think. [have to check the pics] It rained day and night in fact been away 5 -6 years in a row and it’s rained all the time! and ….. it’s raining still!!!

my oldest son was in Cairns during that cyclone (living right on the water front in a cyclone proof appartment which didnt stop me from worrying myself silly and ringing him with all types of advice..he has moved back to Bris and reckons that the destruction and winds were much worse here during the recent cyclone ….we watched in horror as the ground rose and fell as a large tree in our front yard swayed back and forward as the roots were trying to win the battle with the wind…a large 100ft gumtree over the road fell across our neighbours roof was a nightmare we dont want to re-live….I am sure Tully has had its share of cyclones…you have captured the misty wildness of this weather very well Ginny!

  • Thanks Gillian, it’s really scary the way the wind whistles. We are in a bit of a hollow,….gully goes through [cheap land , lucky us] seems to go over the top of us only lost a few gum leaves, and we have huge gums surrounding the house here, usually big branches come down. but nothing much…
Must be very wet again up there, the Barron Falls were spectacular, lots of small waterfalls coming down Bartle Frere .. [sp] in the misty rain.
