South Australian Canola fields via Yacka # 4 by

With many many thanks to Enivea
for letting me use her photograph for inspiration to paint this particular scene . After driving around her part of Australia and taking photos and not being able to stop to set up art gear as it was getting dark and very stormy windy ,cold and needing to find a sleeping place for the night ,…..rather than not doing any at all I used some of my photos when I arrived back home and Eniveas wonderful photo, there’s a bit of artistic license involved , [of course ] the black cloud painted looked too heavy etc. maybe I’ll do some more sometime. maybe not!! ;-)))

Oil on Canvas 76 × 102 cm

Eniveas cloud over the Campbell Range

Very beautiful and alive, makes me think of the Western Cape in South Africa! ;-)

  • Thanks Elizabeth my S.A artist friend has paintings very similar in colouring, awesome mountains and wonderful storm clouds [done from memory too[ clever her ,from where she lived, Drackenberg? area?? although I envy her , her paintings with colourful interesting people and huts included.

This is really stunning Ginny! Love it to bits!

  • ooh long tale…. I did one for the comp [ the other Canola fields large ] the stretcher bar was made 2 cm too large ,measured it after I finished painting [framers fault ]to fit a frame! meant it was going to cost too much to alter [my framer is /has been extremely unwell] so I had to do this one as I had already named and put size in entry! This is on one of the shop bought wide canvas sided ones. ooh,it’s no wonder we get …….temperamental or just plain mental .

Lovely work Virginia – like your variations and especially the yellow.
    - Pretty imaginative, considering there’s no canola in sight!

  • thanks Shallay but ,,,,well, I had to add some seeing I had committed to that title for an art show. and time was running out to get it done.some shows don’t mind a change of title but this one specifies , no change… guess they don’t want their catalogue messed around.[first one for show as answer to Lynda…] it only had narrow edging with staples and needed a frame .]

a beauty Ginny, the picture I never got to take when I was down that way :)

  • Hi Jenny thanks I spent that trip jumping in and out of the car avoiding coming showers and very cold wind to take photos , I missed a lot as I got exhausted, car is 4 × 4 so high up to get back in , the windscreen had a few bad stone chips and one very bad crack acrosss the middle, the pics through that wasn’t the best! lol plus squashed bugs….but most of this one is Eniveas,

I reckon it’s bonza Gini, and we’re barracking for you to win! Woof woof!!

  • ooh thanks Fred, there’s some wonderful perfect art at this show, and no-one knows me now, which doesn’t help. My hermit state the last few years isn’t good. I had to decline as usual to help on the desk etc..
