Abstract in Summer Gum Tree Bark by

As is from the camera taken from a gum tree in my yard, the recent rains have darkened the shedding summer bark making superb patterns.the green from the grass in the background seems to set it off nicely[doesn’t show on the card ..it is to cropped too much here. this took a few minutes to photo and a few minutes to put onto computer.

What a unique image, great idea and very well done.

  • thanks Byron I like the green each side, instead of the usual cropping I thought the colours complemented each other …

Wonderful colours gini…glad you didn’t crop it. We have big gums who shed their bark in summer and go bright orange, which look spectacular after the rain.

  • Yes this one goes bright orange too but the rain has hardly let up now for days so it’s soaked in and darkened it there are also some spotted gums looking fabulous. We found a black possum sitting in a hollow too gorgeous! daytime! The butcher birds were most annoyed.

Fabulous shot Gini, contrasting colours are gorgeous!!!

  • I take pics of this gum all the time! …hehe practicing settings long shots and short shots ! but I this one turned out a different colour I suppose because of the rain soaked in.
