Poinciana Flower by Virginia McGowan
A close up of a flower in the poinciana tree in my yard, this along with two other trees just came up from grass clippings someone else threw my way,[ used as mulch]they have been there for 18 odd years and I this is the first year one has flowered , only thing is the tree is facing next door so I have to go there to see it..

the whole district/state here is alive with two types of trees with red flowers, and they drop red all over the ground too magnificient.

Beautiful!! Strange to see flower blooming in winter, but I guess it’s summer there.
Well the whole of Queensland and our streets and I guess a lot of Oz is ablaze with these now and also the Illawarra Flame Tree which is a rainforest tree with huge leaves that it drops almost at once and then is covered in red flowers. They drop too and underneath is a carpet of red,mine takes longer to flower than most ..not sure why but it’s only has a few flower atm

this is delightful Ginny a friend bought around some chrissy bush the other day its all out now and so gorgeous….
sounds lovely, wish I could pick some of this! up the road a bit hanging over peoples fence there a purple bougainvillea and one of these together…

what actually do you call a chrissy bush? I have a NZ Chrissy B but it just sits ther no floers!!
