So is this the original version that you then painted over? Noooooooooooo!!! It’s a lovely painting, Ginny!! Those cool blues and earthy oranges work so well together – another great painting.

  • Virginia McGowan replied

the original was just ordinary colours actully it started off underpainted in reds but then I did lanscape colours over as it was a really heavyily misted cloudy day but Ijust couldn’t get the foregound as it should be so I used the canvas and painted a portrait on top , I spottend the photo I had of it on my files and thought I’d try doing some photoshopping .I’ll check later and leave a link what I used , I am painting another in wide landscape ,[taking time as I have problems with time going to doctors] I have done this mountain a few times from diferent locations , it’s often covered in cloud. I’ll see If I can put the original on here too.

  • Virginia McGowan replied

hi cobbycook the photoshop program was
Filter ,.... Artistic.,paintbrush , then a little bit of curves to make it reidsh tinges.I inserted the pic of the original, I oftern take photos as I progress. I oftern paint over ones I am not happy with either!

Thanks for the info – very interesting! The re-vamped version is streets ahead of the original! I suppose that’s the advantage of digital art – you can change things easily and even go back to the beginning if you wish…

  • Virginia McGowan replied

yes that’s why I painted over it I intended it to be very stormy but orangy / red to make it more interesting but I just couldn’t get the paddocks right either. I may have got there in the end but I thought easier to start another sometime , the colouds cleared a lot and it ended up a really sunny day there anyway I still have a few w/coulur /acylic on site sketches to work from, and photos!
