Great colours, where do the shoes finish and the carpet take over….do they glow in the dark LOL

  • Virginia McGowan replied

hehehe that’s my bed cover and the timber surrounds [king water bed] you need sunnies to enter my house! no I don’t think they glow but HMMMMMM thinking! could put diamante on them too!

Ha ha , what a good idea , they look better painted that not.

  • Virginia McGowan replied

yes they were due for replacement but hard to find , so I chucked some acrylic on them now I take half sizes a 4 is too small and a 5 is too large, they have shapes on the sole so not comfy unless 4 1/2

Oh this is spectacular – both as an art-form and as a fashion statement. Wins on both accounts!!!
I can remember doing something similar to my boring old white sneakers way back in the late 60’s (yep, I was around then, and I can remember the 60’s – what does that say I wonder??)
This looks fabulous as a framed piece.
    Cheers – Carol xxx

Wow! They look so cool! What a lovely idea. I also get the urge to paint on anything and everything, but never did shoes before!! Brilliant idea and gorgeous artwork xx

  • Virginia McGowan replied

well it’s fun and keeps the shoes newish, I used to paint on clothing for 20 years, professionally sewed them first. but didn’t get time to do shoes I did these a couple of years ago , if i had more time and energy probably would paint on other things but…..........photos take time too!

  • Virginia McGowan replied

Oh I used Liquitex artists concentrated but Ir’s not available now called something else .but any acrylic would do.

Do they come in a size ? wonderful happy feet!
    sarah

  • Virginia McGowan replied

yes Sarah , not easy to find these days I bought thes maybe hmmm could be 20 years ago but I found out who sells them to buy new ones but then to save money painted them instead they are made of wood with a leather top and brass buckle so hardly ever wear out, they are usually bone or white I did have red one many years ago too [the leather that is.] sandals are made by Scholls [I live where I can wear sandals most of the year.]

  • Virginia McGowan replied

I checked up on google there are lots of info this is the Amazon
if they are made in the USA looks like several types are avaiable. I don’t shop anymore ,so I havn’t a clue wht is around.

  • Virginia McGowan replied

hi Deborah thanks so very much , you can buy these in USA , I just used acrylic paint I used Liquetex Artist concentrated because it’s free flowing and thick I found it on Texas Art Supplies [shops over the states] but they don’t do online sales to aus! hard to buy here now and very expensive.

  • Deborah Glasgow

    Deborah Glasgow

You make me want to paint every shoe in my closet! These are just too cool. I’ve already painted some of the windows (glass paints…looks like stained glass…really) in my house as well as furniture…...may as well paint my shoes too! Love your style….and that Bedspread! Wow! I sooo love that too.
