Iwo Jima statue
This Iwo Jima statue (cast from the original) is visible from Veteran’s Memorial Bridge crossing the Caloosahatchee River from Fort Myers, FL to Cape Coral, FL. The statue is located in Eco Park, Cape Coral.
Whenever I visit here there is more often then not, the elder folk are there talking and remember their lost ones and when they see me with my camera they are so proud to see me and the kids walking about and talking about all the names and different things that we see there, Mattie says mom why are they thanking us I tell him because in these days not to many young people are interested in these types of things and he says but mom this is good because we learn history this way, my smart boy, I say yes Mattie but times are changing and sometimes parents do not take the time to show their children these things so they do not learn to admire or enjoy them as we do…..
