This drawing is part of my Dharma art collection. It was my first attempt at including verse within a drawing……something I had long wanted to do, as, through my buddhist practice I had begun to build up quite a body of verse which I knew really belonged with the drawings.
The overall spirit of both the verses and the images is one of devotion. I had at this time built up a very strong ‘devotional’ relationship with the sublime Guru Rinpoche – he was ( and is) the greatest influence on my life and art….
Guru Rinpoche is strongly associated with Tibet – it was he who introduced Buddhism into that country – and he remains dear to Tibetan Buddhists. Never-the-less, as a Buddha he may be contacted by anyone, anywhere……and one of my very strong encounters with him occurred very unexpectedly at the sacred site of Glastonbury, England.
I dedicate this drawing, and the verse, to peace and freedom in Tibet, to Tibetan people all over the world, and to those who work peacefully and compassionately for their cause……
